Good post days!

We may live in an instant world, where most things are done online, but you still can't beat pen and paper and snail mail. Here are a few things that dropped through my post box over the last week that really made me smile.

A card, little note and cute stamps from @letterloves on Instagram.  She is very passionate about snail mail, and asked people if they would like her to post out a card to them. The first few to respond were rewarded with a little envelope of happiness! :)

An AMAZING squirrel money box that @ptitbento of sent me out of the kindness of his heart, after I commented on his picture on one on Instagram, to say I was in love with it! He sent this from France just because! Don't you just love Instagram!?

This shows the awesome bits and pieces that my wonderful friend Lizi sent me from Hong Kong, where she is teaching at the moment. She hardly ever gets a day off where she can go to the post office, so she had been saving me bits and pieces for a while. Kawaii stickers, tape, page markers, and pen... I'm in heaven! Now time to go and write a letter back!

some new work

Just a short round up of some of my recent work.

This pattern was designed as part of a tutorial I did for Digital Artists Magazine. The tutorial is in issue 31 that is out now.

The idea behind this, was the feeling that there is nothing better than coming home to be greeted by a big hug, be it from your other half, pet or even a friendly furry monster.

Ok, so not the first time this play on words has been used, but with the arrival of spring I felt like doing an image of some dancing bees!

Meet Tin-man Trevor!

I have gotten in some bad habits of late. I spend far too much time on the internet, thinking I'm doing things that are useful and need doing, but in fact really don't! It's so easy to see your time disappear down a black hole! I am vowing to set aside 'internet-free days"

I had one of these days recently, and found I was much more productive! I managed to produce these three sketches within about an hour

Meet Tin-man Trevor, Mushnoo's newest friend

Tin-man Trevor sliding down a rainbow!

Mushnoo and friends take a ballon ride

It's amazing how quickly you can get ideas down with the good old method of pencil and paper! Sometimes the old fashioned methods are the best. Now these babies are ready to be painted and/ or vectorised  :D, lots of fun ahead!

What I have been doing recently

Here is my latest illustration.

I feel that Mushnoo will be a regular feature in my work, and for a while now I have been wanting to write/illustrate a children's book featuring him and his friends. The character was first conceived about 2 years ago, so I'm taking my time! I must put the objective in a list, because then I will probably actually do it! I have a thing about lists! Again I'm still experimenting with styles, but must say I'm pretty pleased with this one! I have also created a pattern using Mushnoo and his main friends.

Again I'm really stoked with this especially as it is the first pattern I have created.

I have also been working on my crocheting skills! I'm getting there slowly! My aim is to be able to make an amigurumi creature by the end of the year! A long way to go yet! Still only learnt slip stitch and double crochet.

Oh and here is my first ever origami crane

only 999 more to make to get all my wishes granted!

Finally had another great day at Madeley High school this week getting the children to come up with their own installations. It took a while for them to grasp the idea, but now they're doing brilliantly. I can't wait to see their final pieces! Will post the pics up on here when they are done!

T-shirt, float on

T-shirt, float on, originally uploaded by Samantha Eynon.
Have just converted and altered a few of my designs, so that they work as a t-shirt design, so I could submit them to creative boom which is an online magazine that aims to celebrate, support and inspire the creative industries.

Visit http://creativeboom.co.uk

Hopefully they will be added to the competition soon, and when they are it would be fab if you voted for them at:

Christmas and New Year Catch up!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Here's to 2010, despite the freezing start! Although it is nice to see some proper snow, but sure after a few more days i'll have had my fill of it!

I have thought about making some new year resolutions, though haven't quite gotten round to putting them on paper! How abouts I think of a few now?
1) pass my driving test
2) learn atleast one new skill
3) create more artwork and research more artwork
4) Draw more
5) waste less time on networking sites

Hopefully I'll be able to keep all of them, not sure I'll quite manage 5 though!

I thought I would post up some pics of some of the christmas goodies me and my husband got, I had fun taking photos of them on Christmas morning!

some cool sweeties! I haven't had the heart to eat the lolly pops yet! They are just too cute!

got my hands on this limited edition blink 182 bunny off amazon, as a pressie for my hubby! He looks quite the ticket, heading our motley crew of designer vinyl art toys, hopefully this year we'll actually get to see them tour!

This is a fantastic, felt doorstop, that is a replica of our own 1969 bay VW. My wonderful sister in law Lydia made it for me. Isn't it brilliant!?

Here is another great star wars mighty mugg for our collection. The fantastic ewok 'wicket' (I have on occasion been compared to one of these fellas!) We really want yoda and princess Leia, but they are so difficult to get hold of!

Just thought I'd show you our wonderful tree topper that we had for this christmas! Meet King Ken. We did want a nice simple star, but couldn't find one. I think this fella did a better job in the end tho!

Also, at new year we used a chinese paper lantern. I'd recommend these to anyone wanting a peaceful and graceful alternative to fire works. We first saw them being used when we went on holiday to woolacombe, north devon, last year. They really looked fantastic against the sea back-drop as the sun set, so my husband bought me a couple for Christmas.
