I would be .......

The brilliant illustrator sweaty eskimo has set up a collaboration project called 'I would be" The idea is simple you have to come up with an image in response to the sentence "If I weren't a illustrator or designer I would be" So here is mine. I found it actually really difficult to ponder on, but mainly thought about jobs that would have a good visual impact and make people smile, so this is the result!

For more info on the project go to Sweaty Eskimo's website by clicking the link.

Bunting is the best!

As some of you already know, me and my husband are VW nuts somewhat, and have our own 1969 bay camper 'Rhubarb'. It was our 2nd wedding anniversary recently and to add more to the sense of celebration and has a present for our 'cotton' anniversary, my husband bought this fantastic bunting.

Bunting is just amazing stuff, and instantly gives a sense of occasion to any event. This wonderful bunting came from The Cotton Bunting Company Go check them out, they have a lovely range of designs to suit any celebration. All are made from good quality cotton and are finished off to a very high standard.

OurSmart 2010

Lego a go go!

This lego belt buckle by designers Dee and Ricky looks amazing, however with the price tag of $85 I think if I want one I'll have to get handy with some lego and a glue gun myself! Still very pretty!

European Panda

As an artist/ illustrator learning new skills and trying to get noticed, I am always on the look out for any projects/ collaborations that are open for submissions, as they are great way to get people to see your work. So far I have contributed to about 5/6 projects.

The latest of which is a project called European Panda. The project is ran by the talented mistermillerchip, and Chris Nunn. The duo are starting a press specialising in black and white illustration, design and art, and as part of this they want to run an ongoing project in the website. This on going project invites people to submit images of a European Panda, the only restriction being that the image must be black and white.

To see images already submitted go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/europeanpandapress/. If your on twitter follow @MrMillerchip for more info.

Amanda Visell

Some of you may know that I am developing a bit of an addiction to vinyl toys. The latest in our collection are some of these amazing ones, including the super cute bat above!

The toys are the work of the brilliant Amanda Visell who has created a number of customs for kidrobot in the past, but has now been given her own mini-series, and I love them. They seem so fresh and stand out amongst the other collections on the market. They are strong translations of art work she has created in the past.

I also bagged one of these off Ebay last night (Amanda Visell Dunny series 5) which will go alongside my Amanda Visell 2009 model. I look forward to it arriving next week! :)

Yeti in Socks!

So it took me a little while to get back into the swing of things after my holiday, but I think i'm nearly there now! Though I have another week off in 2 weeks now! And I start my job as art shop technician at Staffs Uni on 13th Sept.

Anyway above is an image I have created as a submission for a book on characters that the very lovely and talented Jennifer Bryan, illustrator and creator of Creaturekebab is trying to put together. I have already submitted several others, but have spent a particularly long time on this one. I would be so stoked if it got included, but if not I had great fun doing it.

I am particularly liking screenprint effects, textured papers and 50's retro style at the moment, which is what I have tried to go for. Watch out for more blog posts showcasing some of my favourite artists that draw on similar inspiration. I would love to start doing some screenprints, but alas have not got the space or material currently. One for the wish list!
