Autumn Inspiration

I have always loved the colours of Autumn, maybe partly due to being an Autumnal baby. As the temperature begins to drop the colours get so warm. It's like nature is giving us that last intense burst of colour before it goes into hibernation. The sunshine is also at it's most gorgeous, casting an amazing glow across things. I always find this time of year so inspiring, so here are a few photos I have been taking and some illustrations I have created, I hope you enjoy them.

Paper toy workshop

During the half term break I had the opportunity to lead a workshop at Sheffield's Children's Hospital, on making paper toys. I had a fantastic day. I only worked with a very small number of patients, but they all loved it, and it was really great to see what an impact it had. One girl would barely grunt un response at the start of the day, but by the end of it she was laughing and joking. It would be amazing to do this all the time!

More brooch fun

The Shrink art bug has definitely got me! I have been working on a few more designs, and have lots of more ideas. I will have a brooch for every occasion, and I think my friends and family know what they will be getting for their birthday, christmas and any other occasion! haha. I will have to try making some other jewellery soon.
It's just really satisfying creating physical objects, as much of my work stays on a screen!

Drawings and paintings :)

Just a couple of pictures of artwork I have done this week

This one I just did for myself, it was an image that had been going around in my head for a while, and I needed to get it into paper. It's just pencil on cartridge paper.

This chap, if you haven't already guesses, is Boris the miniature Schnauzer! Someone on instagram saw my painting of a sausage dog called Percy, and wanted one of their pooch. This was a nice fun one to do. It is done in watercolour and fine liners on watercolour paper.

Wedding Commission

A few weeks ago, I was asked to create a portrait of a couple for their wedding. This is not the one I did, as they're not married yet, and I didn't want to risk them seeing it, but I wanted to share it with you, so I have altered it to this made up couple.

I really enjoyed creating it, and think that it would make a lovely memento for a wedding, anniversary or engagement.

If you are going to a wedding this year than why not get them something more personal and get in touch? Prices start at £20 for a digital file that you can print to any size you want.  Email me at samanthaeynon@gmail.com if you want to enquire.

Lady in a hat

Just thought I'd share my latest completed illustration with you guys. I'm quite pleased with this one. It's one of the most striking images I've done for a while. Now I want to do more!

At the top is an image all three colour ways I tried. I struggled to decide which one to go for, and thought they looked quite nice all lined up together. Now I want blue hair too!

Valentine's Commission

Sorry for the silence recently, I am a bit rubbish at keeping up with all things online related of late!

I was asked to do a 'retro' style portrait of a couple for Valentine's Day, a brilliant commission to receive and so much fun. This is what I came up with. Hopefully I'll get more commissions like this in the future.

Snake Charmer

I originally sketched this illustration out in November and really wanted to get cracking on with it, but with having lots on I have only just got round to colouring it. It was inspired by 'Snake Charmer' by Blink-182 and the amazing Derek Yaniger, a post on him will follow soon, his work is awesome!

I really hope I manage to squeeze some more illustrating in over the next few months; it felt so good to be able to sit and immerse myself in this.

Movember Mole

For my November paper toy, I decided to go for a Movember theme. I asked people who follow my Facebook page what animal they felt would best suit some facial fuzz. I had loads of wonderful suggestions, but decided to plump for a mole.

The template is available to download for free from my website as usual, but if you could head to http://uk.movember.com and donate, or sponsor my husbands efforts here, that would be amazing!

Radio ga ga

Just a few images I did several weeks back. I love vintage and retro radios and felt they were crying out to be made into a pattern!

Frame workshop

I hadn't lead on a workshop for a little while, and it felt really good to back into it. Doing a session on making and decorating frames for Age UK in Derbyshire. We started with some simple origami, though some of them looked lovely. I especially liked the one shown in the 2 photos above. It looks like a really complex design when finished.
Then I went through a few different techniques to decorate frames with recycled paper. Everyone came up with their own take on it, which was lovely. It was a nice relaxing 2 hours. Looking forward to next weeks workshop now!

Self-Portrait!

Just a quick one from me. I have recently been asked to do some illustrations for a book, that are in a sketchy style, and influenced by that I created this silly image of me. Starting to want to branch out from vector work a bit. I may even go and get the paintbrushes out!

Robot Tower

I started a new job several weeks ago, and it's full time, so it is more difficult getting to do the chance do any illustrations. Especially with trying to finish off the digital magazine, Air Monkeys, that me and my husband run with a few friends.
So the long and short of it, is that it has taken me a very long time to get this one done!
It is my first attempt at using perspective on Illustrator, I'm still running CS3 at the moment, so it is a bit limited on perspective options. It was more of a challenge than I expected it to be, and I still didn't get it bang on, but I'm fairly happy with it.
